Wetland Profiles are snapshots of wetland condition synthesizing biological, physical, and land use
characteristics for the major wetlands in the Morro Bay Watershed.
Presented in tabular form, the profiles are not intended to be in-depth, detailed analyses. Sources are referenced next
to each entry and annotated citations
are provided at the end of each profile.
Wetland Profile Categories identifies
the general objective and type of information sought for each category.

SOURCES
Descriptive documents, government reports, and scientific studies containing targeted
wetland information were collected from university and public libraries,
science and technology databases, and the Internet.
The information provided in the Wetland Profiles varies among wetlands
due to the heterogeneity of the source material.
Studies were carried out for different reasons at different spatial and temporal scales.
Some provide data describing the hydrology, water quality, and plant and animal species
of the entire wetland while others focus on a particular sub-habitat or species; some
describe data collected over several years of consistent sampling,
others report on a single survey. These differences were exhibited both within a
single wetland and among wetlands. The Wetland Profiles for the less prominent wetlands within the Morro Bay
Watershed are less comprehensive due to the lack of available information.
